I thought this topic might be amusing for everyone, has anyone mixed up the time and did things too early, freaked out because you thought you were late to something, missed it, or was close in terms of time? all because well....., you missread the clock or maybe you didn't look at the clock?
I woke at 3 checked the time and fount out it was 3:52 I forgot it was on 24 hour and, forgot for a moment more out of exhaustian what 3 o'c it was speaking of. so I got ready, sent an e-mail because I had an appointment at 1 o'c and, well lets just say it's really really important, something I can't miss.
well, okay, so we have that, but not only..... so I called for a ride ton to the other campus, because I was so short on time. and I ran all the way downstairs. and, and, the officer, no real other service is gonna run at 4 in the morning, but anyway, officer said, well you're early, and I am like huh? I hav a class at 4:35. I was still freaking out, keep that in mind. and he said, well, it's 4 in the morning your class is at 4 in the morning? and, I am like oh my god, what? did I over sleep that much? and then I realized it was the night before.
and, then there was a time, well........., it was 3 o'c and, I didn't bother to look at the time, but I thought mum had woken me up for school so I put on my shirt for school and my pants and I was all ready to go and stuff and I was gonna run to the car and stuff or out to breakfast, and, well....., there was no one there, I went in to their room and my whole family was sleeping at that time. and, so I went back and checked my clock it said 4 in the morning.
or the time, well it was daylight savings, and we had to set our clocks one hour back. okay well apparently dad didn't set his correctly or something, so dad woke me up, and I got dressed and he got ready to drive me to school, I ate a quick breakfast and, we went. when we got there, the whole school was empty, we were like huh? what's the matter! is this a holiday, that we didn't know about? and then dad realized it was 7 something and not 8 something.
When I was in high school, I came home one day and took a nap before dinner. Apparently my mom tried to wake me up for dinner, but I was out cold, so she let me sleep. When I did wake up, my clock said 8:00, and I ran downstairs in a panic thinking I was late for school. I could see then, but the fact that it was completely dark outside didn't register in my mind. My mom was sitting in the living room watching TV, which she wouldn't be doing in the morning. Still, I yelled at her, "Why aren't you dressed for work? Why didn't you wake me up?" She started laughing and told me it was night and I had slept through dinner.
There was another time when somehow both my mom and I thought it was an hour later than it was, so she dropped me off at school on her way to work. But all the doors to the school were locked, and I thought it must be a holiday or something. I walked back home and saw my mom at the dining room table drinking a cup of coffee. We both had a good laugh over that one. Apparently after dropping me off at school and starting to head for work, she realized the real time and just went back home not realizing I wouldn't be able to get into the school building.
Oh my grapes! I've never went so far due to a time confusion. That's probably because I triple check the time when I get up and start to get ready. The farthest I ever got was jumping out of bed and making it. Then I would realize I had not checked the time, and of course, I check it, and it's five or 3:30 in the morning. I think my jumping out of bed stems from dreams I might have been having about school or getting ready for class.
When I was younger my siblings and I lived with our paternal grandmother, and she suffered from time-confusion frequently; not sure if it was due to her old age or the drinking. She would try to give us milk and cereal for dinner, thinking it was morning. And sometimes, she would wake up from a nap in the evening, and scold us for not being ready to go and not having school clothes on.
i did show up 2 hours early for a game on RS, because i got mixed up with the time in the UK and the time in california.
quite embarrasing when she showed up- i'm like, you're late.. and she's like uh no, you were early... lol
Back in School 3 years ago, I was in Year 12 (Australia) and I thought we had to change out Clocks due to Daylight Savings. Well the next day, I changed the clock and then went to school, embarrassed that I found out I was an hour late, I've never been late before to class, then I realised we had to change our clocks one week later, for some reason I was told to change my Clock that day.
Lesson learnt :)
thank god I was never late because of it always early and lets not jinx it, haha! and wow some interesting stories.
This type of thing is what I fix by using the 24-hour time system. Does anyone else use this? Everyone who knows thinks I'm weird. Of course, I live in the United States, so my use of meters, kilograms, and the centrigrade temperature scale is seen as strange.
it doesn't work for me, I have tried it. that was my issue I forgotten I had set it to 24 hours and thought it was three pm.
I do use the 24 Hour system
